Favouritism
Favouritism in public procurement and contracts is where those involved in the tender and contract process place relatives, friends, or persons and organisations with whom they share an interest at an advantage by carrying out procedures contrary to the legislation. Although favouritism is not directly defined as an offence in the Turkish Criminal Code or other laws, it is one of the corruption offences that may be assessed within the scope of misconduct in public office and, where it results in loss, of liability for entrusted property.
