ISO/IEC 17020 Inspection Body Accreditation is the conformity assessment standard laying down the requirements for the technical competence and impartiality of inspection bodies and for the consistent conduct of their inspection activities. It aims to ensure that inspections carried out on products, facilities, processes, equipment or services are objective and reliable. In public procurement, ISO/IEC 17020 accreditation may be required in inspection services such as the periodic inspection of lifts, work equipment and pressure vessels, construction supervision and machinery inspection.
