Major Defect

Defects capable of altering the form, function, compatibility with other products with which it is used, and reliability of the goods subject to the specifications, or of affecting their service life, shelf life, performance or cost. The contracting authority determines such defects according to the nature of the goods procured and checks for them during inspection and acceptance. Where major defects above the standard are found, the goods are rejected.
